Take it where we can get it

That's right -- it's a clip of Newt Gingrich talking. Hear me out. (If you saw this clip before, sorry, I'm often super late to the party.)

As time goes on, it seems less important who outside of Detroit is talking about Detroit, and what they are saying. What matters is that they are talking about Detroit.

People in the region often assume that the rest of the world is paying attention. Right around the time when Kwame's Jailhouse Fashion Show went down, I was sitting at dinner with someone who has spent years trying to improve the outside world's perception of Detroit. Needless to say, this person was in agony. Oy! What will the world think?

Fortunately or unfortunately, the world doesn't think. The world doesn't really give a toss. America contemplated the Kilpatrick scandal for about two minutes, if at all, giggled and moved on.
