Let's not celebrate just yet

Homicide in Detroit has decreased to 1967 levels, but then again, the population of Detroit has decreased as well: to pre-1920 levels.

This means it's still high, way high, at 37 murdas per 100,000 residents. Like, Baltimore high. (They're at 36 for the year.)

Silver lining: The New Orleans tally for 2008 is 75 per 100,000. Take that, AP!
